Market and Economic-financial feasibility studies in 2002 and Reevaluation in 2006 (Rio de Janeiro)
Client: Gulf Investimentos e Dominus Engenharia

The contracting company Gulf Invest, from Rio, acquired one of the last available properties on the famous Ipanema beach, and had the idea of joining forces with the famous French designer Philippe Starck.

BSH was invited to follow the first meetings, which dealt with the conception of the project and its business model, which included a relationship with Starck, who apparently had no experience with hotel management.

BSH developed the market studies that supported the definition of the product’s concept and, in sequence, the economic-financial feasibility study that supported the business plan of the project.

Initially the hotel project was called, ‘Rio Universe’, the name given by the French designer, but the investors of the project were not feeling secure with the capability of an architecture and design company to manage the hotel. So, the contract with Philippe Starck was renegotiated and the project was concluded with his contribution, but Grupo Fasano was given the hotel management contract.

Since its opening, in July 1997, the hotel has been surpassing the results projected by BSH. BSH.
